Cost-Effectiveness of Liquid Biopsy for Colorectal Cancer Screening in Patients Who Are Unscreened
Published in JAMA Network Open, 2023
In plain English: Plain-language summary (draft — please review). Colorectal cancer screening saves lives, but only if people actually do it. We compared a new blood-based ‘liquid biopsy’ screen against the standard colonoscopy and stool tests. Even though the blood test would get more people screened, at today’s price the older colonoscopy still gives more years of life per dollar — so liquid biopsy isn’t yet cost-effective on its own.
